about us
who we are and what we do
We are an International Yoga Teacher Training Institute dedicated to empowering students worldwide since 2009. With courses offered in beautiful locations across Europe, in Sri Lanka, as well as online and in hybrid format, we provide transformative opportunities for growth and learning. Our multidisciplinary approach is rooted in yoga tradition and grounded in modern science, making our programmes both transformative and evidence-based.
Our faculty brings together experienced yoga teachers and professionals from fields such as anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and psychology. Each member of our team is trained in trauma-sensitive approaches and is deeply committed to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments. Many of our trainers began as Spanda students themselves, and together we form a dedicated, research-informed, and community-rooted faculty that supports you at every step of your journey.
Why Choose Spanda Institute?
Rooted in Tradition, Grounded in Science: Multidisciplinary approach, evidence-based.
Trauma-Sensitive: All our trainings include a trauma-sensitive module.
Small groups: In-person trainings are intentionally intimate, with space for personal attention.
One-to-one mentoring: Our online courses are unique due to the one-to-one mentoring we provide.
Loved by our students: consistently rated as one of the top Yoga Alliance–approved schools, with outstanding reviews from graduates.
Ongoing support: We stay connected with graduates, guiding them as they step into their teaching journey.
A Thriving Global Community: join a network of teachers and practitioners who grow and support each other long after the training ends.
Giving back - Karma Yoga
As a yoga teacher training school, we believe that the practice of yoga extends far beyond the mat. Karma Yoga, the yoga of selfless service, inspires us to give back to the world in meaningful ways. For every student who joins our training, we plant a tree, contributing to carbon reduction, restoring habitats for biodiversity, and creating sustainable opportunities for local communities. We are also dedicated to supporting animal shelters in the places where we hold our trainings. By raising awareness and providing financial assistance, we help volunteer-run organisations care for abandoned animals, run spay and neuter programs, and promote responsible pet ownership. In addition, for nearly two decades, we have organised humanitarian events to support people in need, offering aid during natural disasters, helping refugees, and addressing the needs of children in crisis. Through these initiatives, our mission is to embody compassion in action and show how yoga can transform not only individuals but also communities and the planet.
